Do you have a mentor at work? Is it your chief? Your FTO? Or does your shift supervisor take on this role?

Maybe you're still in contact with one of your instructors.

How often do you meet with him/her? Do wish you.could meet with them more or less often?

I'm interested in hearing your responses. Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't have one out here. But I am able to talk to lots of friends that I have made online and I use them as sounding boards when I need advice.

EMTLife is my mentor...

I currently have a few.

I have had some in the past I am no longer in contact with but wish I could be.

I expect to have at least a few more in the future.

For me, mentors are transient.

you guys need to get out more.

No, I do not have a mentor. I am the mentor.

I'm lucky enough that my partner has become my mentor. He has 30 years experience in EMS and is widely reguarded as one of the best medics in our company. He also doesn't mind teaching me things when I ask.

I am my own mentor. I surprise the H e ll out of myself, everyday!

We have Clinical Standards Officers (CSO) who do in-service clinical mentoring and support. Our Clinical Education Tutors who run the National Diploma for our student Technicians and CCE for all Officers.

Informally there is a fantastic relationship between our Intensive Care Paramedics and other Officers, for example Brown was lucky enough to have two awesome ICPs to work with and learn so much from.

Such low standards!

Nope. My mentor is a great medic and a kind compassionate man. Couldn't ask for a better mentor.

I've been in EMS for 10 years, and I've had several mentors over the years.

My primary mentor for medic school is now a co-worker and boss... I wrote about him some time ago on here, and on my blog:

Some of my EMT preceptors have gone on to great things, some have gone on to jail. One is now a ED Doc. Some of them I still run with regularly on the volunteer side.

And since a mentor is one who teaches... sometimes my mentors are the brand new folks getting on my trucks. In some cases, they show me things, when I'm supposed to be the one teaching them.

Yea this pretty much is it for me.

I know no one in the EMS field besides my classmates and teachers.

I value the opinions and help I get on here.
