I just did my 4th ride along as an AEMT student...my preceptor lets me pretty much do everything that isn't an advanced skill. The student should have a check off sheet on what they need to complete for National Registry so tell them to pull out there sheet and get to it!
1st ride along got a call for mvc. Arrived on scene to see no damage to the car. We transported 2 passengers who couldnt keep straight what was actually hurting.
2nd ride along the other day got a call for child hit by a car. Get to the scene and it turns out the child ran into...
Read Read Read! Do you have the workbook that goes along with the textbook? if so, use it. As said before, do the knowledge objectives at the beginning of each chapter. Also there is a website that goes along with the book, the info for it should be inside the front cover. Use the website to...
This comes straight out of the AEMT book:
1.Apply direct pressure over the wound. Elevate the injury above the level of the heart if no fracture is suspected.

The school I go to in Macon will start a new curriculum (i was told probably by May) for just the AEMT part so you don't have to go through basic again. I know this doesn't help you tho, since you will be in Columbus. Were you able to get a hold of anybody from that website I sent you?
1 of our local EMS providers has a designated "holding the wall" guy (he's an older EMT) that is stationed @ the Emergency Department to specifically wait with patients for a room. That way it frees up the transporting EMT's without abandoning the patient when there isn't anyone available to...
Also do you know where in GA you will be moving to, that way I can get some info on the programs that will be in that area for you so at least you will kinda know what to do and where to go when you get here. =)

ok this is what I found on my schools website. It looks like you will need to be and EMT-I or AEMT to get into the Paramedic program but I will still ask tonight to get clarification.
Macon has a Paramedic program at Central GA Tech. Not sure though if you can go directly into the Paramedic program tho as an EMT-B since GA has converted over to AEMT. I have class tonight and I will ask my instructor for you.
OMG! I kicked butt on my medical emergencies final (94 go me) Next is trauma emergencies and then off to national registry in April, and then again in August. AEMT here I come! :P
