Has anyone had the opportunity to volunteer/work down in Richmond, VA? I was planning to start volunteering either this month or next at West End Volunteer Rescue Squad, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what it was/is like.

I don't know if the rules for the VA state exam practicals differ from the NREMT or other states... But aren't you allowed to backtrack if you accidentally forget a step and later verbalize it within the 10 minute time span? I passed everything but the Medical station because I didn't say...

I'm a little confused about the NREMT and the state exams. Why don't all EMTs have take the NREMT? I just took the VA state exam, so does that mean I have to take another state's exam if I wanted to move? Does taking the NREMT exempt you from taking state exams?

I was curious as to why Combat Lifesavers can do Chest decompressions and IV (I think it's only a week long course?) but Basics can not? Is it only because the soldiers are in such hazard environments and the likelihood of frequent mass causality incidences are extremely high?
