Hey, all!

I'm an EMT in Pennsylvania, and have the good fortune of being married to another EMT! However, I'm looking for a gift for her that she can carry at work, but will also be special. This is difficult, because she's been doing the job for a little while, so has stuff like her stethoscope (which is better than mine, actually..), and most other things that she already uses.

I was thinking about a rescue knife (in her favorite color, I might add. It's the Ontario XR-1 Safety Green rescue knife)

..but that doesn't seem like a particularly 'wow'-worthy, or hartwarming gift from her newly-wed husband.

Girls, or fellas who've successfully navigated these waters, I could use a hand. :p

Edit: Whoops. Posted in the wrong thread. Forgive the FNG, mods... :(

If she has everything she would need for her job as an EMT, you could get her something not EMS related. Maybe a necklace, earrings, or some type of jewelery she could wear while at work- and any other time.

Me and the hubs are both paramedics but that's our occupation- not our relationship. We try to distance the two so we feel more like a couple and less like co workers. If Either of us need something for work- We just buy it. I don't gift him with EMS related things.

To be on the other side of the fence, I've heard pants that fit properly would be a huge hit!

Yeah if you want to be castrated and buried alive

Trying to guess a woman's appropriate pant size is like guessing their weight. Its an AWFUL idea. It's a trap. Just don't do it. You will die.

And EMS pants fit differently then normal jeans, so you won't be able to sneak a look at her Jean tags to get an accurate size.

Lol I was thinking of maybe talking to her to get what she wanted but I guess that would not be a surprise then

I'd get her something not work related to be 100% honest, But then again my world doesn't revolve around EMS and I treat it as a job, But every one is different so if thats what she really is in to , maybe get like a custom made workshirt if those are allowed in your company? or like a sweatshirt ?

Asking a woman " what size of pants do you wear" is a bad idea as well.

Hey babe....your pants size is what, like a 1 or 2?
My husband is well trained.

He will just play dumb and say " they don't come in a size small"?

I don't think that's playing dumb lol. That's a very valid question and female sizes are extremely confusing especially to us males.
Or maybe just to me lol, you women folk are a puzzle :p

There ya go!

OP If you do want to get her clothes, let me give you the secret man solution in two words: GIFT CERTIFICATE.

We are like cats.

Some times we want to cuddle, and sometimes we want to scratch your eyes out and pee in your shoe.

Always get TWO gifts
One can be work or whatever, the other can be more typical (jewelery etc)
But just so If one completely flops the other can save you
Plus then you might get brownie points for knowing so many different sides to her
Good luck, tell me what you go with

You and your husband must have a very odd relationship if you are peeing in his shoes..
