Eh, some volunteer places will take you as just a driver, but will make you sign a contract agreeing to take an EMT-B course within 6mo to a year. As a driver with an EMT-B cert or at least a first responder cert, you will much more valuable, esp on-scene.
As a job, you can basically forget it...
Here, a ladder and 2 engines and fire-medic and an ambulance respond to anything not just medical...which, here, it means they come quite often. We air lift about once a month.
You can skip the first 4-8 weeks. I don't recommend you do though. The military does things their way and it's very different compared to the civilian way. Especially since you're like me and just getting ready to come out of EMT-P school, no offense, but our minds have been set to do things one...

We got a call yesterday that ended up being very very minor. As medics, we're taught to at least attempt to diagnose obviously. For EMT-Bs, well, this was a BLS call so think on it.

17 year old athletic female.
No previous injuries.
