We have 4 shifts. You're either day or night on either the "front" half of the week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday) or the "back" half (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every other Saturday).

All shifts are 12 hours, mostly 0700-1900 and 1900-0700. Though in order to prevent every rig from trying to go in or out of service at the same time, we do have 5:30-5:30, 6:00-6:00 and 6:30-6:30 shifts. But at least half (if not most) are 7:00-7:00.

It's (obviously) not uncommon to be held over late, but when its quiet, its also not entirely uncommon to get off early either.

Sounds ok but it would get kind of tiring after a while.

far from it. Exceptional pay (including flights, no expenses when I am on rotation) expanded scope (sutures, antibiotics, etc) awesome coworkers and great living quarters. Clinic has satellite tv and hs internet. It isn't for everyone but I really enjoy it. Closest hospital is 2.5 hours by rotor-wing. staff is 2 medics, 2 RNs and an EMT. we see 20-60 pts a day with a site population of 3-6k depending on the day.

Full time Shifts are mostly 24s on the Kelley Schedule, with a handful of 12s (4 days one week, 3 the next, then repeat), and a single 5x9hr shift. Part time shifts are 8s.

Down here, companies are split with either Kelly schedule, or 12 hour cars.

It all depends on what company you work for. My company has 10 hour units, 12 hour units, and Kelly Schedule units.

Private IFT/911 - Rotating tour schedule. Work weeks run Wed-Tue. Work Fri, Sat, Sun one week, Wed, Thurs, Mon, Tues the next. All are 12 hour shifts. This company has staggered shifts. There is a 4-4, 5-5, 7-7 BLS and 5-5,7-7,8-8 SCT shift. I work the 5-5.

Municipal 911 - We work 8 hours shifts with random days, shifts. 12-8,8-4, or 4-12. Frequently schedule for doubles but do not allow any more than 18hrs.

We have like 5 different shift types. Our most common shifts are 12 hours. 24 hours are the next most common and 48 hour shift is the least common (this is a special unit we have had for the past couple of years).

The next time I'm at work I will get the dates of how our shifts work.

Depends. Either 10 hours shifts or if I get sent out 24 hour shifts. Or if someone calls in what ever they wanted.

Around my area most EMS runs seven 12 hour shifts (either day or night), followed by a week off. Works out to 40 hours a week all year.

12 hr shifts on a pittman schedule. Too busy for 24s, 8 hr shifts get old, esp wit teh commute.

between 8 and 14 jobs a shift. rare to get less than 6.

24s would be nice, but we have written policies against sleeping on shift, and it's waaay to busy.

You would need to be a Canadian Advanced Care Paramedic (EMT-P) which is 3 years of school plus work experience or a Primary Care Paramedic (EMT) which is 1 year of school and about the AEMT scope in the US....The money isn't as good at this level but it is better than most 911 or transfer gigs. You would also need a work visa.
