What's going on with the NREMT and the state of Michigan. From my understanding Jan 2012 the state will start using their own testing and dump the NREMT finally.

Wondering if anyone else has some information

I heard the same thing from a MI resident, Paramedic

So what does that mean for us that are licensed now and registered through the nremt?

Do we get to be grand fathered in?

Probably a question for your state EMS board ^_^

Do you know how hard it is to get a hold of them, or at least get a straight answer?

I hated calling them. It was always an answer like

"well if there is a full moon on saturday and the wind is blowing northeast, then call back in six weeks and then ill confuse you with another answer"

Do not drop your NREMT if you ever plan on moving out of state. And take it for your Paramedic. You never know when you will be glad you paid your 100$

Hate to say it, but she's right. The lady that I need to talk to will be in Monday though so hopefully we can get somewhere.

$100? $110 here plus $125 for practical. Ouch

You're already licensed. They won't revoke your license. Imagine how many medics they'd have if they revoked all medics tested through the registry.

They talked about ditching the NREMT in 2009, 2010, 2011, and now it's 2012? I'm not holding my breath.

I'm pretty sure this is a done deal. If you have NR now I'd suggest keeping it because it's very unlikely they will be recognized by other states as meeting requirements. From what I understand Michigans bar will be set pretty low, which will not fair well for those leaving the state post change.

Luckily my wife JUST completed her Paramedic class and will be elegible to test for NR at the end of July. Then finally she can get her butt down here to TN. She is just going to take her NR down here and get her TN license, she won't even apply for MI..
