Fellow shooting enthusiasts:

Thanks Akula. I'm definitely developing a list at this time.

Speaking of single stacks, does anyone have any experience with Kahr? I've heard some good things, some bad.

Yeah, I'm a little late to this but...

I do bring a kit with gauze, tape, couple wet dressings, and a CAT, keep it all in a small pouch on the support side of my chest rig. It cost me less than $30 to put together. Not much considering that it's one of the few times someone's life may actually be saved by our intervention.

And, +1 for the 1911, Lucid. My pops has a 4" Kimber 1911 in 9mm that my younger sister (5'3, 115lbs) shoots with no problems. I'm pretty fond of it as well.

While I do not have any experience shooting a Kahr pistol, I would strongly advise you to check them out for yourself. Find a range that will let you rent one or find someone that will let you shoot a few rounds through theirs. Given the light weight, I'd suggest a 9mm as a .40 will be VERY snappy. A .45 will also have a noticeable recoil with a gun that's that small. If you can, try them all though. They may be uncomfortable to shoot, they may not be, but they should be controllable though.

I've had two of them, and never again. Not even for free. When I was applying and processing for a PMC tour in Iraq (before the party was cancelled :D ) I bought a pair of Kahr CWs. There is absolutely no way I would ever carry one into combat. OK ... maybe if it was a choice between a Kahr CW or a sharpened stick. No ... I'd choose the stick. Your mileage may vary, however.

I'm telling ya ... if you like the feel of a single stack but want a modern, lightweight, hi cap 9mm or .40 ... S&W M&P is the shiznit. You will love the feel, I'll bet. I'm a Glock Fanboi and the Glock trigger and reset has ruined me for life. But even I have to say the M&P has the best feeling ergos on a semi ever. Try one at a rental range and see what you think.
