I posted on here a long time ago that I was starting EMT-B training, and I'm happy to report I've been certified in PA! Woot! Now, I just need to find a job.
Any advice on how to land a position?
Wow, they do that? My instructor is awesome... There's one guy in my class (16 years old) who is struggling, but my instructor is trying to work with him. I don't know if this kid will get to go to states, since his failure would also hurt his partner...
In my class we rotate through stations to develop practical skills, and unfortunately we have not worked on assessment of medical patients as frequently as we have trauma patients. So, that's why I was curious how the mnemonic should be adapted.
Thanks for the feedback!
Just have to say that my EMT-B class is finally underway and I am thrilled. We've had one so far that was all lecture, but next week is 8 hours of CPR!
And I bought my stethoscope. I feel like a real EMT student now!
WOOT.
Yeh, of course. I am well aware of everything you wrote. Trust me. As a fat girl, I get reminded of it every single day of my life. As an EMT student, I am well aware of what constitutes a healthy body. I'm on an exercise program currently. But, it's not like I'm going to shrink overnight if I...
Well, you can see me in my user pic. That was taken very recently. I don't think an 11 minute mile is too bad, seeing as I'm not a serious runner. Could be better though... I love running and I can't wait until the 2 feet of snow we have is melted so that I can get back outside!
Thanks for...
Hi all. Wondering how overweight EMTs are perceived by others in the industry...
I'm in excellent health (just had a physical, complete with bloodwork). My cholesterol levels are where they're supposed to be, blood glucose is perfect, blood pressure and heart rate are perfect, I can run a...
I FINALLY start EMT-B training on the 20th! My husband eventually got on board with the fact that I really want to do this. I can't fully describe how excited I am! I already have my books and read through the first three chapters and memorized all of the new terms and stuff... CAN'T WAIT to...
Hi everyone,
What are your usual work schedules? I am still trying to convince my husband that being an EMT doesn't mean that we will never see each other due to me working a weird schedule... I got certified in CPR and First Aid yesterday, and my instructor is a retired Fire...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but one must be certified to even do volunteer work, correct?
I have not definitely decided to give up design, and I hope that during training I will find out whether or not the work is truly for me.
I don't have any experience with EMS. Thought about becoming a paramedic before I went to art school... I had a buddy who went into it. I used to borrow his books when he was finished with them. It's always resonated with me. However, I had myself convinced that the only thing I was good at was...
Has anyone here had difficulties with their family members, specifically their spouse/sig other, accepting their decision to pursue a career as an EMT?
My husband isn't taking it well. He "prefers" me as a graphic designer. I've told him that until I finally become a paramedic I won't make...
totally agree
I second everything you said! I am starting EMT-B classes on January 6 and can't wait to get started! I am also looking for a career change. What do you do now?
