I will just echo what the rest have said. I used to work out regularly (need to get back to that).. did a LOT of work on my legs and NEVER had an incident that I wasn't able to lift the patient or thought I might not be able to lift the patient.

On the same line as "Will this be on the test", is my all time LEAST favorite of "you are just testing over lecture material, right?" Umm, NO! You are responsible for reading your textbook, testing material will come from class lecture as well as the information in your...
I agree.. I think that the lounge already serves this purpose. I am a part of a few other EMS forums that have strayed FAR from their original intent.

First job out of school I worked in a clothing manufacturer. I put on Beltloops, Button holes, and shipping. I did that for about 9 months

I would tend to agree with foxbat..... I live by the saying in both teaching and practicing that I can't fix what I don't know is broken. Give this student the benefit of the doubt and talk with them. You may find out that you have some things in common... if you have the time then take them...
If you are an instructor that teaches the Paramedic program, this thread is for YOU! I'm looking for a listing of required / essential equipment for the Paramedic program. The school that I work at is planning to start teaching a "P" program in the upcoming year, I'm trying to assist the...
Each and every EMS book has it's own pro's and con's.... I have an entire library made up of every EMT-B book available, and I use information from each to enhance the classes I teach. When I'm looking for a book that has the best comprehensive information in it, I review all of those books on...

So, things may not always be as easy as that, but more times than not, I get all of my information (and then some), by just starting up a conversation. Sometimes I feel like we get so bogged down by trying to remember the "NREMT" sequence of...
So, I decide to return back to school and find a FT job to boot, and come back and realize that someone left the door open, and all of these newbies have come in!
Welcome to everyone who has joined since my departure, and HOWDY to all of my old friends. Just a little bit of an update from me...
I'm proud to call Bob Page a friend and Colleague. I have sat through numerous lectures presented by him, and always come out of his classes feeling like I've absorbed so much more than I thought my brain could take in. St. Johns in Springfield is a fairly progressive EMS service, they do a...
I just start having a conversation with most of my "medical" patients.... before long, all of those "alphabet soup" questions are answered... plus, I usually find something out about the patient that my mneumonic questioning wouldn't have gotten me.

Differing VS and mechanism information from chapter to chapter. I always tried to read ahead of my students in the book, but they were always the ones that ended up finding these dramatic errors... why? Because I already had my foundation, and I was just "reviewing" the material... they were...
