Thanks for the advice guys!
I have another question...when lifting a stair chair, how is that using your legs, I always assumed that was mostly your upper body in effect...
Hi Everyone,
I've posted here before about passing a lift test for an ambulance company. Its been over a year and I still haven't tried the test again. I think I'm almost ready, I did another ride along and was able to lift an EMT that weighed 175 lbs with another EMT at the other end of the...
Haha, that's funny, I actually went to Dr. Kemp, but they work at the same place! :)
I tried PMing you, but it says you either chose not to recieve private messages or can't...
I'm curious to find out where you work!
Details of Physical
There are three parts to the physical:
First you have to be able to lift 145lbs placed on a strecher like thing off the ground and place it on a a box type thing a couple of feet away. Then, you have to be able to lift that same thing to a height of about your shoulders...
Thanks for your encouragement!
I just wanted to ask you a few questions...I'm still training, but I'm on my own, I actually only had a personal trainer for two days, I just can't afford it.
I really want to pass this physical so that I can start working, but I don't know if I'm ready to...
thanks for the advice again everyone!
I've been going regularly to the gym and have started either increasing the weight or doing more reps and it seems to be working.
what do you mean by push-pull routine?
wow that you all soo much, this is great advice!
I worked myself a bit harder today, and really do feel it this time, I think i'm getting better and learning more about weight lifting. I don't know if its just me, but I already feel like I see a difference! :P
thanks for all the great advice everyone.
I think I'm doing great. I feel so much more energized after working out and I feel more focused than ever. I think I need to start doing more reps and perhaps adding more weight because I feel like I can do a lot more without getting as tired
I...
Hi All,
I have a question about weight training.
So I had two sessions with a personal trainer and since then have worked out on my on about two times now. However, when I worked out with the trainer I felt like I was gonna die (In a good way?), because the workout was soo intense, and I...
Thanks for your encouragement everyone!
I've decided to continue and will do some training and try to pass the physical.
I met with a personal trainer today and she said that it might take 3-6 months! I'm still looking around and will get someone elses opinion as well.
I talked to the...
Thanks for the advice everyone.
I really do want to do this, I've gotten this far and I really don't want this to hold me back. And I do realize how important this is because I dont want to get hurt myself or hurt someone else.
The only problem is that I don't have money for a personal...
Hi all,
I had my pre-placement physcial today and unfortunately I didn't pass. I'm really bummed out because I was super excited about starting work. I was able to lift 90 lbs off the ground and move it to a box nearby, but I could lift the up to my shoulders.
I'm a female, about 5'6...
That's exactly what I meant...i'm not even sure I'm gonna apply there, but I really want to because they are the only company around my area that does 911 calls...oh well, good luck to you!:) let me know how it goes..
Thank you all for your responses. I'm actually excited about the ride along, I had a great time during my last ride along.
I was just concerned about AMR because in their application packet it says to prepare for the test you should be able to do things like:
bench press 3 sets of 15 @ 60...
I called an ambulance company to ask about how to apply and the EMT supervisor told me to bring a copy of my resume..
I went there and he scheduled me for a ride along and said we would schedule an interview after.
He told me that the ride along is to see if I like their company and if I...
This really has nothing to do with EMS but I really need some advice, it's kind of silly...
I was wondering if it is weird to nominate yourself for an award, even though there is an option for "self" on the nomination form.
Is it better to ask someone to do it for you, especially if you...
Hey guys,
I'm going to start applying too. I wanted to apply to King American too, but I saw on their website that you have to be 23 years of age to apply, that kind of stinks...are there any other companies besides those already mentioned that you guys know of?
