    Who wears glasses or contacts?

FYI to those who suffer from glasses constantly fogging up, there are certain wipes and sprays you can buy that coats the lenses with an anti-fog coat. I don't know how well it would work with prescription civillian glasses but the stuff I got from Revision thru the Army works pretty well with...

    Who wears glasses or contacts?

Im just like Linuss. My nickname was "Eagle Eye" at basic training but I still prefer contacts to glasses. There's downsides to both. With contacts you have improved peripheral vision but you have to deal with dust and them drying out. With glasses you're peripheral vision is limited (depending...

    What to Study?

I have an interview on Thursday for another EMT-B position with a private ambulance company (different one this time). I have a written exam that I have to take as well as a practical skills assessment and then the interview is conducted. Can anyone give me some insight as to what to study...

    Tx ems

I was with Dominion for a little and worked exactly 3 shifts. They won't take me off probation status or give me any hours so I had to find a job somewhere else (which isn't EMS related) and I want back in. I would like to try to work with Dominion but, in the interest of not slandering them...

    Tx ems

I'm looking to talk to anyone who is within the El Paso, TX area and affiliated with the several ambulance services there to try to secure an EMT-B slot. I was with an ambulance company for a bit but they have yet to put me on their schedule and give me hours. If anyone knows of any info...

    What the H

All of the other ambulance agencies where I'm at aren't hiring, I tried there before I landed this job.

    What the H

Just a quick update for anyone who's interested. I called the fleet manager and apparently the decision to put 3rd riders' shifts on hold was the company owner's so the manager's hands are kinda tied. At this point, I'm getting more frustrated. There isn't really anyone I can talk to about my...

    Combat Lifesaver vs. EMT/Medic

No I'm still waiting to hear back. It was the company owner's call to put a hold on any more shifts for 3rd riders, not the fleet managers. It's true though, the company is trying to get the county contract, which would hopefully mean more money and more shifts.

    Combat Lifesaver vs. EMT/Medic

I'm going to have to disagree with the statement that EMT-Bs and Comat Medics are similar. Yes they're both technically EMT-Bs, but a Combat Medic is more of a hybrid between and EMT-B an EMT-I. EMT-Bs cannot start IVs (at least by NREMT standards, might be different by state), Combat Medics...

    What the H

I don't want to betray company privacy in any way but I will say that it is an ambulance company in my current city and, no, they have been here quite some time.

    What the H

I've been an EMT as this ambulance company since July 18th, and since that time I've been on only three shifts. The way they handle new people is put them on "Third Rider" status. Basically it's an orientation period where you ride along with a two-man crew and learn the ropes. Your third shift...

    EMT-B or Combat Medic?

Good luck if you decide to enlist the entire miltiary is over-strengthed right now so even GETTING IN is a crap shoot. Also, to repeat what was said before, it is not a fair comparison to compare an EMT-B with a combat medic. Combat medics do and are trained to do a lot more things than the...

any 68w doing volunteer/part time EMT work?

Yes, 68W equates to an EMT position through the military. I could tell you all of my stories of medic training but you'd be better off talking to a recruiter in the first place.

    Nm ems

I currently hold NREMT EMT-B as well as TX EMT-B certifications. I am curious as to what the exact requirements are to pursue EMT-B certification in New Mexico. I have already spoken to the EMS Bureau and emailed a couple people so far. I know that NM does not honor NREMT certification and that...

    All the bells and whistles...REALLY?

I care because, no matter what we do while in uniform and operating in an EMS capacity, we still represent each other in the EMS system. If someone is wearing all of the ornamental asthetic things on their uniform (when it is not required of them of course) it may reflect unfavorably upon all of...

    All the bells and whistles...REALLY?

If it's part of your uniform that's one thing, but when someone uses some of their money to go out and buy all this stuff it's pretty obvious.

    All the bells and whistles...REALLY?

I know of ONE EMT at my job who has an EMT badge and wears it on his belt. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but what are there SOPs in TX regarding wearing a badge like that? Of course, if you're an EMT, but all means you should be able to wear the badge to identify yourself but...

    Manual BP

Thanks for those links, they were heplful. After traversing those two lengthy threads, as well at the Stethescope mega-thread of 15 pages, I have come to the realization that opinions on stethescopes are like opinions of cars, firearms, movies, etc. (they're inconclusive). I do believe that...

Trick to hear BP Better in the Moving Rig???

I've used this method too in a field environment. However, I think that in the field is the only situation where this method would be useful when noises and things are going on around you (like more urgent patients presenting or you not being able to stay in one spot for very long). Otherwise...

    Combat Medic Aid Bag

I saw the Responder 84 ALS pack on their site, i assume it's a more recent version. It looks like a really good pack, it has a lot of the same things their RUSH 72 backpack has, which I was thinking about getting for myself as well.
