I did it! Now I need a job...

I posted on here a long time ago that I was starting EMT-B training, and I'm happy to report I've been certified in PA! Woot! Now, I just need to find a job. Any advice on how to land a position?

How many survived your EMT class?

    I'm 25 and I can't imagine trying to be an EMT-B if I was who I was when I was 16.

    OPQRST in medical patients

I agree :) That's how I tried to use it in one of my scenarios in class, but I got tripped up because I just wasn't sure!

How many survived your EMT class?

Wow, they do that? My instructor is awesome... There's one guy in my class (16 years old) who is struggling, but my instructor is trying to work with him. I don't know if this kid will get to go to states, since his failure would also hurt his partner...

    OPQRST in medical patients

In my class we rotate through stations to develop practical skills, and unfortunately we have not worked on assessment of medical patients as frequently as we have trauma patients. So, that's why I was curious how the mnemonic should be adapted. Thanks for the feedback!

    OPQRST in medical patients

How should I modify OPQRST for assessment of a medical patient with no pain (say, someone SOB due to an allergic reaction to a bee sting)?

How many survived your EMT class?

Our class started with 24 people. We lost one guy on the fifth week, and they've been dropping ever since. We're down to 18 now.

    Class underway!

Just have to say that my EMT-B class is finally underway and I am thrilled. We've had one so far that was all lecture, but next week is 8 hours of CPR! And I bought my stethoscope. I feel like a real EMT student now! WOOT.

    Fat stigma?

Yeh, of course. I am well aware of everything you wrote. Trust me. As a fat girl, I get reminded of it every single day of my life. As an EMT student, I am well aware of what constitutes a healthy body. I'm on an exercise program currently. But, it's not like I'm going to shrink overnight if I...

    Fat stigma?

Well, you can see me in my user pic. That was taken very recently. I don't think an 11 minute mile is too bad, seeing as I'm not a serious runner. Could be better though... I love running and I can't wait until the 2 feet of snow we have is melted so that I can get back outside! Thanks for...

    Fat stigma?

Hi all. Wondering how overweight EMTs are perceived by others in the industry... I'm in excellent health (just had a physical, complete with bloodwork). My cholesterol levels are where they're supposed to be, blood glucose is perfect, blood pressure and heart rate are perfect, I can run a...

    Finally!

    Finally!

I FINALLY start EMT-B training on the 20th! My husband eventually got on board with the fact that I really want to do this. I can't fully describe how excited I am! I already have my books and read through the first three chapters and memorized all of the new terms and stuff... CAN'T WAIT to...

    typical schedule?

Hi everyone, What are your usual work schedules? I am still trying to convince my husband that being an EMT doesn't mean that we will never see each other due to me working a weird schedule... I got certified in CPR and First Aid yesterday, and my instructor is a retired Fire...
