Moving to Menifee soon. Been hearing good things about AMR in Rancho and Redlands. But it's a little far from Menifee. Anyone on here worked for AMR in Menifee or hemet? If so, what's the EMT pay? Is starting at $17 like in San Bernardino? Also, how are the calls handled? Does Fire handle most calls or does AMR? Are all AMR unit ALS
or do they have BLS running 911? Last question are they requiring all vaccines? Boosters and alll?Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Riverside County: no clue on starting pay for EMTs anymore. 911 calls are primarily handled by ALS units. Whoever is first on scene is in charge of patient care. If that is fire then they are supposed to hand over all patient care to the transporting medic as soon as reasonably possible.

BLS ambulances will get sent to 911 calls when no ALS units are available. AMR does not require COVID vaccinations.

Cool, thanks for the response! It’s not like LA which I like a lot. Over here it’s Fire running everything which sucks.

Also there may be a pay difference between AMR Riverside and AMR Hemet. Unless something has changed in the years since my employment for AMR, Hemet is a non-union OP.

Yeah, from what I hear Menifee and Hemet are non-union. Might just make the drive to Redlands for a the better contract.

If you’re an EMT then you’ll be IFT division.

Menifee is Riverside division(Union) Hemet and Desert Cities are non-union and different divisions. Riverside division has North and South end. North is basically anything above Perris and South the rest down to Temecula. I worked for Hemet for many years. I know a lot has changed but still the only AMR op I'd consider.

Thanks for the info! In your time there was it hard to get on a 911ALS shift?

Not for me, but Im a medic. As far as EMTs go it really just depended on staffing at the time. If we were low on EMTs you might not even go to BLS at all. Other times it would be 6mos to a year but, you could pick up ALS OT.

You're going to go through FTO and will then be placed on a shift until you can choose a new shift(We do this every 6 months called Shift Bid based on seniority). I would say 60/40 it will be a BLS or ALS shift you'll get but don't shy away from IFT. Half of my time here was in BLS and I feel I'm a better provider because of it tbh; you can treat it like something you have to do to get to the sexy ALS stuff, or you can capitalize on the time you have to practice assessments, go through medlists to understand what meds deal with what issues, and generally become more competent at talking and listening to your patients.

Call volume and types of calls is going to depend on levels. If it's low levels, then BLS will get Code 2's and even Code 3's when an ALS unit is too far or when there just isn't any available to send instead. These days every unit is getting a Code 3 at some point. If a BLS unit shows up to a 911 call, the Fire medic handles patient care and will ride in to the hospital, just like LA.

Menifee is considered South end Riverside but you can bid on a shift throughout North/South end. During orientation you'll receive a packet that has all the stations units are deployed from.

That I actually don't know, I would assume it's around there if not a tad higher. Rancho/Redlands and Hemet got pretty significant hourly raises during Covid, and with our contract negotiations(For the union) coming around, I would assume we'll receive something comparable.

It's a great place to learn and grow imo

Thanks again! Yeah I’ve been doing IFT in LA and have done 3 deployments to kern working with hall and it was awesome but too far of a drive for me. I know AMR’s system isn’t the same as up there but it’s similar and imo it’s better than LA.

Yeah absolutely man. The key in any system is to be a hard worker, be a team player, and know what you know and know what you don't; meaning don't be afraid to ask for help and ask questions about things. Good luck!

Everyone summed it up pretty well.

Each division’s pay is different but it all equals out about the same.

Riverside Division starts emts at $19.50 but our OT is after 40 hours.

Hemet is at $17.00 but their OT is after 8hrs on a 12.

It kinda depends on staffing and each division. I’m at the Riverside Division and i only just got part-time like 2 months ago for medic school and i’ve been there for a year and a half full-time. I have a friend who got hired as part time around the same time as me but staffing was good at the time.

Not entirely sure how the Hemet division is, but a few buddies in my medic class have told me that Hemet is a little more receptive to part time.

Even if you get part-time however you have a full-time commitment for your training and FTO.

You typically have to do like 2 weeks in the classroom training along with Evoc then you go to FTO. It’s usually 2 BLS shifts and 8 ALS depending on if your FTO wants to extend you. Also you mirror your FTO’s schedule until your done whatever that schedule is (night, day, swing/ could be a front half, back half, or dispatch schedule)
