At the store where I work we get to pick which festive phrase we wish to use, if any. Last year I went with "Merry Christmas" and nobody said a word against it. This year I'm using "Happy Holidays" and I've had multiple people tell me off for not saying "Merry Christmas." It's been an interesting accidental social experiment.

I always say Happy Holidays, except to those that I know celebrate Christmas, but even then I only say it on Christmas.

"Happy Holidays" is to celebrate the season, not the day. That's the way it's in my head anyways.

Yep, after being faced with such rude behavior, it's "Happy Holidays" from here on out. I want to tell these people, "Actually, I do celebrate Christmas, but you're making mine less merry."
