Lets face it, EMS is stressful and unfortunately some turn to excessive drinking or recreational drug use to self-medicate and escape. I'm a firm believer in hobbies, something to get your mind off EMS for a while. Me for example loves to play the guitar. It helps me relax after a stressful day. Perhaps you would like to share some of your life passions besides EMS work.

Airplanes. Captain Brown has over 5,000 hours of fixed wing LDS time as well as various Boeing ground type ratings.

Firearms, photography, offroading, paintballing, racing motorcycles on a roadrace course. I think that's what I do with the majority of my free time when I have money :)

Fishing and watching the wild animals in my backyard, up north at my comfortable "cabin".

Graphic novels, shooting, flying, golf, workout, and video games haha

I design jewelry and run my own store. I do art shows. I stay in college so I have something to do when I'm not working EMS or working on my own business. I do most of this while listening to music, the ultimate relaxation.

Volunteering, hunting, sleeping, cooking, fishing, and being with friends/family. I absolutely love the outdoors, being in the woods or on a river bank.

Brown should also add Brown likes spending time with Mrs Brown

Shooting, hunting/fishing as the season warrants, camping/hiking etc. motorcycling. Always something to occupy my time.

Is this spending time with a real Mrs Brown or an imaginary one while you seek a real one?

My kindle and I are great friends in my down time. I also like role play video games with a good story line. My kiddos. I avoid cleaning if at all possible though and talk with the bestie often. Piano and singing are an outlet too and I'm considering attempting to learn violn again.

Shooting, Shooting, Shooting, Reading, Spending time with my fiancee, Gym, and Family.

Metal

I put on my headphones, turn the volume as high as it will go, and I listen to Metal for hours and hours, particularly bands like SLAYER, Morbid Angel, etc.... Very relaxing.

Ditto. Spent way too much this summer on gear, but loving my new Milsig M-series and Tiberus pistol (though the pistol's busted at the moment).

And I think Mrs. Brown is the name for one of Mr Brown's extremities. ;)
Nice :) I've got an old MilSig K series (marketed at a T68G5) but my primary anymore is a Phantom VSC. Haven't played in a while though. Need to do that soon.

I forgot about my Kindle :) I love that thing.

Ya it's been almost two months since I've played. Getting antsy to get out there but first I have to replace my power tube. (Getting really low FPS out of my marker).

Until I started playing paintball I was on track to be a workaholic in a really unhealthy way. I was spending way too much time on EMS stuff. Constantly on forums, constantly reading, constantly thinking about work.

My life outside of volunteer fire/ems hmmm... let me think is there such a thing:blink:? Well lets see I have a wife and 2 girls who I get to vicariously relive my childhood through watching them play sports etc.. As of late now that I have finally gotten my AEMT card and remac credentials I am spending about an hour a day getting back in shape alternating running days with resistance exercise days so that I can get back in shape so I can stay in and get promoted in the Army Reserves.
Time is also spent contemplating should I go back to school for my RN or Paremedic, guns, knives, reading, and movies. Would also love to get back into Martial Arts as it helped keep my temper on a more even keel but my locale has two schools, Tae Kwon Do (take my dough) or Jiu Jitsu. Tae Kwon Do has too much structure with forms etc. and the Jiu Jitsu is of the traditional type, lots of wrist lock's and ukemi(think tumbling), as opposed to the Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu style I had previously studied in Rhode Island that incorporated kicking, chokes, locks, more strikes than I can remember and was taught by a been there, done that Providence Police officer.
