Teaching SQ Injections

In your state who is authorized to teach EMT students how to administer a drug via SQ? Here in my state it was only nurses and only recently was it changed to allow paramedic instructors to teach SQ admin.

Not sure. We had a nurse teach us SQ/IM and IV

Don't know but recently it was an RN (me) and a DO teaching EMTs IM.

I learned to give Terbulatine "deep IM" for whatever reason. Couldn't tell you why that one was specified differently than others, but there we are.

I find it odd that a paramedic can teach a medic student how to start an IV but can't teach an EMT student how to give a med via SQ.

I learned to give Terbulatine "deep IM" for whatever reason. Couldn't tell you why that one was specified differently than others, but there we are.

Difference in protocols. Terbutaline was the one of the last SQ drugs we gave.
