I am an EMT-B student and I just signed up for my ambulance clinicals for school. I got on a supervisor rig and I was wondering what that meant. My teachers said you would get to see cool stuff, but I don't know if they were joking around. It is for a private ambulance company called Action Care in Colorado.

Thanks so much!

Most likely Russ's truck. All it means is that it's an ambulance that a supervisor happens to be the medic on board. Russ is a good guy and if you get him you'll have fun that day :)

Thanks so much! I am so glad that you know what ambulance company I am talking about. I hope I get Russ.

If you don't mind me asking, who do you work for in Colorado?

Worked for Action Care for about a month, now I'm interviewing for Pridemark on Monday. Only been up here in CO for a little over 2 months though

Rig, 9 times out of 10, means ambulance (the other 1 could mean an SUV or vehicle they're in)

The reason why you'll get to some some good stuff is if something big happens (ie MCI/MVC or the like) the supervisor usually goes on scene to, well, supervise.

When I did my medic internship, I was at station 1. The Battalion Chief said if anything popped up on the radio that sounded cool, like an MVC on the highway, and another station got dispatched, that he'd take me out there so I'd still get the experience.

Means just what others said you are will ride with the supervisor that day!

Its just the senior Officer who is in charge of that particular watch.

For example we have four Operations Team Managers (OTMs) who are Intensive Care Paramedics rolling around in compact 4WDs in order to offer rapid responder ALS and backup for unusual incidents or where thier co-ordination skills are required. The OTMs primarily cover thier geographical part of the Auckland Metroplex (North Shore, City, West/Waitakere and South) but float around as required.
