Private Ambulance Code 3 responses to SNF in LA

Does anybody know what the policy is regarding private ambulance companies responding code 3 to SNF's in lieu of Jurisdictional First in Paramedic agencies, I have heard of companies marketing the option to respond code 3 up on request. Is there anything in writing by LA Co DHS or Ca EMSA that clearly prohibits this practice. Any info would greatly be appreciated.

In LA unless you're instructed by 911 contracted company or emergency personal to respond code 3, you're not permitted to do so. That is the local Los Angeles regulation. I do not know if county got anything specific.

edit: The company were informed of the rules when they first got their package from ladot to operate their company in la.

Perfectly acceptable. There is no set response standard for a private response like that, and you can wait as long as you want. Want fast service? That's what 911 is for. Don't like the fire department, complain to your city to drop them as the provider.

I want prompt service, what I dont need is an engine, a ladder, ambulance, and thirty two paramedics standing in my living room and shutting down my street so I can get my grandmother to the hospital because she hasn t peed in two days.

Call private ambulance. It is not life threatening emergency.

... so in this case, wouldn't the privates be responding via Code 2, not Code 3?

afaik, privates cannot respond code 3 unless they have the 911 contract and the permits for it... they *can* upgrade to code 3 when transporting if the situation warrants
