Well, I just finished up testing for EMT-Basic Advanced. Its an Indiana certification which adds IV Access, BGL checks, and 3-lead monitoring with basic rhythm interpretation.

Its all rather anticlimactic, but I'm looking forward to getting some sticks in before medic school.

Congrats!! :):):)

Any other states have an advanced BLS certification? I know EMT-I is usually ALS, but I'm not familiar with I-85 or 99

Our EMT-B out here is pretty advanced for normal BLS, but we still can't do IV sticks... You can't do BGL sticks as a regular basic?

Nope. If it pierces the epithelium, they have some crazy idea that it should involve more training than basic's exhaustive 120 odd hours. (Sarcasm intended)

The other reason it doesnt bother me, is because it won't change my treatment at a basic level.

Wow, that's pretty restrictive. We can do IM and SQ using regular syringes, not just epi pen type devices, as well. I assume you have to be and advanced basic to do that?

For the record, our main IM/SQ drugs are Epi 1:1000 and Narcan

Can administer epi pen, but not many services carry them. Too costly I guess. No narcan.
