Orange County EMS

Almost all of our Shifts have built in Overtime. So we factor that in as part of the wages we offer. I understand your feelings. We would like to offer more, but as Medicare continues to cut reimbursements, and many people have been put on the Affordable Care Insurance (which reimburses us at Medi-cal rates). It is difficult to keep up with higher wages.

I don't mean to be a nusience but 10 years ago I was making around that on a 12 hour shift as a new emt. Only overtime was after 12 hours. I just think nobodys kept up with inflation. In los angeles county for 1 person to make ends meat the minimum they must make is at least $12.85 I couldn't imagine OC.

Apologies. This thread was not made for an argument to occur.

Well no I didn't mean to. I even apologized in advance as showing no attack just stating the obvious. Care pays $10.75 an hour I believe. Doctors a little more. If you want my honest opinion any low wage can be given to any emt because nobody sais anything or demands better.lol

Money will come my friend, just not at the EMT level lol

$16 an hour starting for EMTs in Santa Barbara, even more the further north you go. Socal is far behind.

From the OCFA's job application page: "The Orange County Fire Authority is accepting application for the position of Auxiliary (Extra Help) Emergency Transportation Technicians with the primary purpose of staffing seasonal (May - October) ambulances in the City of San Clemente. Auxiliary Emergency Transportation Technicians are not guaranteed a minimum number of hours and are not entitled to any benefits" (They're offering $11-14 hourly)
