Today at an ER I saw another crew with a patient using a nebulizer. The corrugated outlet tubing was bent gently such that a U-turn was formed, so that the exhalation was actually directed back at the patient's own nose. Some tape was used to hold the tubing in that shape.
Why was that done? Is there a real benefit, backed up with research and evidence, or is this just some thing that some do because they heard it's better?
