But i was told if i get continuing education credits, i don't have to re-test for re-certification, is this true?
 
Yes. You can either retest by exam, or re cert by continuing Ed.

I'd rather retest for both EMS and respiratory credentials. I've never liked keeping track of my CEUs.

It forces you to maintain competence by self study, and internal/motivation is what makes you a good provider.

I know. I don't have a problem with continuing education (remember what I do as a side job after all), but I just hate having to keep the records for it. It's so much easier just to take the dang tests again.
 
Or you can take a refresher course. It totals 48 hours and usually includes your CPR and ACLS certs as well.
