What would the late summer months be without the tropical storm updates given by yours truly? :P

For those who are new to the forum, there are several of us who reside in Florida. Since becoming a member a few years ago I have taken on the task of keeping our members aware of what is going on in the tropics.

TD 4 has now formed is forecasted to become a hurricane by the end of the week. We are at least a week away from knowing where the storm will go (in relation to the US) and what, if any, of the states it will affect.

The below map is the projected five day forecasted path of the storm. This map will update automatically as the NHC puts out new advisories. Clicking on the image will also enlarge it. You can also visit the National Hurricane Center's website for more information.

Its got a long way to go still!! I could get my northernly turn yet....Come on Dean...I need a new car. FEMA OT IS THE BEST OT!!!

SURE..August and September in Florida sucks big time without AC, but its a small price to pay. Besides, I have a generator, 25 gallons of gas, and a swimming pool. My son stayed cool after Ivan and Dennis, he'll stay cool again after whatever comes this way.

Selfish...maybe. But guess who you won't hear whining about nobody helping us after the storm.

Dean is now a Cat 3 hurricane with winds of 125 mph. Most of the models have it staying just south of Texas. The storm is becoming larger in size and I expect it to cause havoc to most of the southeastern part of Texas, following Erin's path.

Build your archs now.

Dean was just upgraded to a Cat 4 Hurricane. It is also starting to slow down (in movement). This will cause a storm to grow.

Let's hope it stays south and goes over the Yucatan Peninsula. If it does it will lose a lot of it's strength. Hopefully.

I'm beginning to think that your avatar is doing a rain dance. :P

If it takes that blue path and hits texas without taking out the Yucatan first....I forsee a week stay in some hot Texas town in the back of an ambulance.

FEMA is putting contracted ems providers on standby now. Just got the page.

Dean made landfall this morning as a Cat. 5 with winds around 165 mph.

Has it hit anywhere in Texas yet? I keep seeing Brownsville on the news, but nothing about damage.
