Has anyone created a homemade solution to IO training with some sort of realism (meaning, not just bringing in chicken drumsticks)? The official trainer limbs/mannequins are way out of budget, and it's a crucial part of an upcoming CME I'm putting together.
 
Just go get you a couple pigs (euthanized), play around some, then donate the meat. They were destined for the frying pan already...

Yep. Looks like a femur. I use them all the time, with meat left on for wound packing etc.
 
Another stand-in is lamb shanks...
 
I guess I gotta go have an awkward conversation with my local butchers. And source a bunch of expired IO needles.
