Asking starting salary?

What would be an appropriate and fair salary to ask for when filling out applications in the Houston, TX area? This is for someone looking for their first job as an EMT-B, with no experience in the healthcare field.

They know what they're going to pay you, regardless of what you ask for. If you were a medic with years of experience, you may have a bit more leverage- but as a new EMT, they know what they'll start you at, regardless of your input. In the Houston area, it'll probably be around $10 or $11/hr.

Depends, transfer company or 911 operation? Places like Windsor, Amed, etc pay more than places like CLEMC, GAAA, AEMC. But Houston is also the land of medicare fraud and smalltime services
Almost every one of those places has a set starting rate, with maybe a little wriggle room for experience
