Advice for a teacher

Well... There is nothing to stop you from doing a little self instruction in this area. You could grab a EMT book and read outside of a classroom. You would not have the hands on practice but you could still educate yourself well enough to make it worthwhile. Here is a link for the book I used in EMT class.

I feel like I could get myself in a lot of trouble, only reading and not having any practical experience or someone saying "HAY! Don't do it that way."
 
I thought I'd let you all know that I settled on a Red Cross First Aid class (for now).

I called the Red Cross back and the person who answered was very helpful. So, for the price of $55 I'll be taking the first aid class in April.

I haven't given up the idea of taking EMT-B classes, but between them not starting until next fall and me getting married this summer I'm going to put that on hold until next year. But after reading around threads here I'm fairly interested in it now!
