Just heard this one...PD dispatcher was asking the supervisor to clear an abandoned 911..."on call back, female verified all information and said it was a butt dial". Just to hear butt dial over the radio made me do a double take, "mis-dial" or "accidental" is the usual.....
My final thoughts on this thread. You guys and gals can think whatever you like about why, how, what, etc happened. I know for a fact one thing is for sure. A great paramedic died far to young. Many people were affected by him, be it directly or indirectly, as a patient, co worker, family...
This particular medic had very recently passed a police physical when he was hired as part time at one of the depts in the area. Being a health care professional, I would assume you would understand that everything is detectable and/or preventable.
There was a question of a cardiac issue since the beginning last night. It just wasnt reported in the news because all they care about is getting a good and interesting story. A medic getting attacked and dying as a result is much more interesting for the 11:00 news that just a simple heart...
Jon-
I appreciate all of this. I believe that more information has been released about the medic. It can be found at 6abc.com on the top stories. All I ask is that everybody remembers that this could have been them, thier partner, their tutor. It could have been any one of us. And...
Fine, let it be discussed. But how about we actually wait until ALL of the information is made public instead of concocking our own stories about what happened. And how about we let an amazing man and fantastic paramedic be laid to rest before we go make a training video about his death? Did...
Again, please let's not all jump to conclusions and cloud this tragedy with more of the EMS rumor mill. As has been said, initial reports have been wide and mostly inaccurate. I have worked with this medic and BEMS, and I would really appreciate it if people just would pray for the family and...
I would just like to take a moment to ask everyone out there to keep the family of a great medic in your thoughts. A Bensalem EMS paramedic died in the line of duty tonight, and all of Bucks County is grieving tonight. He was an amazing medic, person and teacher. He has touched the lives of...
From a cop writing a ticket for driving with a suspended license.
Pt: That can't be correct
Cop: Well sure it is, I just wrote it myself 2 minutes ago....
This is why I love the system I work in. Instead of having to call the hospital ourselves, the county does it for us. So when we go transporting for a call like that, all I would have to say is "Medic XXX, class X to XX hospital, dog bite, ETA of XX." Saves us from having to deal with...
I have had the same problem with the Zolls. It seems like you could be sitting still in the rig, but the artifact is like you are driving over a dirt road with a million pot holes. I use the Zolls at my paid job, LP15 at my volly squad. Not only are the LPs an all in one, with BPm SPo2...
Had A&P one and two last summer. I made it through two years of nursing school pre-reqs before I made the decision that I would not do well listening to some DR on a floor of a hospital for the rest of my life. :P
BLS crew dispatched for a patient assist, came in 3rd party. Apparently caller's mom fell, but they weren't sure if she was inside or outside the residence. Local fire whacker, who was an EMT on the responding rig went on scene as follows: "XXXX on scene, 2 story residence, nothing showing...
Just wondering what everybody else thinks about Zoll monitors vs Lifepacks? I use Zolls at one squad and Lifepacks at the other, and I must say, I prefer the lifepacks....thoughts???
The service I work for services a lot of less than impecable people. I use NPA and NRB combo all the time. 9 times out of 10, it is used on the drunk who is unconscious but breathing well on their own. Another good use for the NPA is to determine just how "unresponsive" a patient is ;) Most...
The difference with this situation and the original post is that you followed here two rounds of albuterol with another 2, plus atrovent. It seems to me that the original patient probably could have benefited from another treatment before CPAP was considered as an option. Everywhere is...
About 6 months after I got my basic cert, I was called for an unknown problem. We were eating dinner and I wasn't driving, so I didn't pay attention to the address. It wasn't until we pulled in the driveway that I realized it was my grandparents house. I worked a code on my grandfather that...
