We have locks at my service, but due to the transport times (no hospital in our area, min. 30 minute transport) most of the medics go ahead and start fluids. We also have blood draw kits but they are almost exclusively used for drawing blood at the local jail.

I use my gloves to write vitals, times, history, etc. Then when I have an opportunity I copy from the glove to a notepad so I dont have to keep the glove around.

i have my first day on the job tomorrow. just an orientation ride but i know ill be starting soon and i am scared out of my mind. but a very good medic once told me if i ever stop being scared switch jobs asap.

I had alot of trouble palpating a radial pulse at first too, but what helped me the most was turning the patients hand palm up and visualizing the spot i needed to palpate rather than trying to be cool and nonchalantly reach over feel it like the medics I was riding with.

Found out today that I passed the NREMT after 70 questions =)

I came close, I had 9 ambulance rotations and 1 er shift. and EVOC is a part of my class.

theres 3 people in my class older then 50, two older then 40 and i think ones 38. if age is an issues, id say my class is in some trouble.

We did something like that at my school, but every 18 minutes theyd call a kid out of class at random, saying that they were killed in a drunk driving incedent, then there would be a "memorial" for the students that died and a "trial" for the drunk driver and the chopper would actually take off...
