Honestly, it's hard to say. Any agency you apply to will likely take your 10 year clean driving history into consideration. Everybody makes mistakes and most agencies understand that.
You'll probably have no trouble getting on with one of the privates, but getting a job with Fire Rescue, which...
It is an accredited program run out of a state college. What's interesting is that all of the other schools and "medic mills" in the area seem to registered, but not us. Oh well, hopefully after the 1st of the year we'll be on there.
Ok that makes sense. I haven't even been able to register yet as my school isn't even on the list of programs - which is weird because it's one of the largest programs in South Florida.
Has anyone gotten a date yet to take the NREMT in order to get certification in Florida? According to the handout we got in school, we should be able to register anytime after Dec. 16th for the NREMT.
I'm trying to understand reciprocal changes leading to the interpretation of a Posterior wall MI.
Is it basically if you have ST elevation in the inferior leads + reciprocal depression in the Anterioseptal leads, that automatically means it's a posterior wall MI? This is a concept we are just...
What do you all think about Fire-based EMS becoming a nationwide practice? Here in South Florida, pretty much every agency that runs 911 calls is fire-based.
I think it has it's ups and downs. Some of the benefit is that departments can be extremely selective in who they hire. With deep...
Thank you. It's a stepping stone and my first EMS job, so I'm planning to learn as much as I can. Hopefully it's a good opportunity to practice interacting with and assessing patients.
I was recently hired by AMR/Medics in Pompano Beach as an EMT and was wondering if anyone on the boards has or is currently working for them.
Was just wondering what the typical day is like and how current/former employees liked working for them.
Hey everyone, for my EMT program we did (4) 12 hour hospital rotations, where we were basically able to just roam around the ED, writing SOAP reports, taking some vitals and shadowing the hospital staff as they admitted new PTs.
Was just curious how the experience is different as a paramedic...
Hey all,
Wondering if anyone had recommendations for Paramedic level A&P and Pharmacology books? Want to get a head-start before I start medic school in January.
Ok thank you for the clarification. The academy is owned/operated by the city Fire Rescue, so I'm pretty sure as far as ride-time's go, it's well organized.
Sorry, still green in this business. What do you mean exactly by waiting to be placed with a preceptor? My plan is to attend this program, and then find some part-time private work to gain experience while working on my AS in Fire Science, before attending a Fire Academy and trying to get hired...
Correct, I believe it does NOT include clinical/field hours. That would be in addition to. I'm pretty sure it is accredited as well.
My apologies, I meant 9 months. Thanks for the info.
