im certified emt-b in texas but i can get free school since my dads a dean in jew jersey, can i take the paramedic or aemt course in new jersey and pay to transfer lisences? i plan to do that school there to be with family and then come back to texas for the RN transition course or just transfer...

i strongly recommend switching to a college at least for the certification. the hands on experience helps alot and at the end of the course we did ride alongs and actually experienced the job. alot more fun too that sitting behind a computer. you also get to tour the local hospitals that way...

what is drug testing like where you work?
how often do they test you and when? also do they pat you down? i know when i was in the navy they would watch you so hopefully its not as strict.

ive heard its very easy for paramedics because of the demand and burnout rate of emt-p but what about basic emts? are there usualy hiring or is it more competative in general? :)
