    asphalt tar on face

That article seemed to imply that Neosporin is effective for removing tar. Would it be reasonable to apply Neosporin to remove the tar?

Thank you, I will definitely be reviewing my textbook.

    Long Time Since Training

It actually is 911; they handle a busy stretch of freeway in the mountains. Call volume is low, but I'm told they get lots of interesting calls.

    Long Time Since Training

I completed my EMT-B training over two years ago and never really used any of that knowledge. Now, I am applying for a volunteer position on an ambulance. I am concerned that I may have forgotten too much (but my certs are still valid). Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Are there any...

    Advice to the new EMT

Was it difficult to start working having been away from training for so long? I graduated over 2 years ago and I just applied to a part-time volunteer organization. My certs are still current, but I'm concerned I have forgotten too much. What was your experience like?

    Non-practicing EMT Recertification

That's what I've heard about not letting it lapse. One more question: If I find work as an EMT say in December, can I renew with the national registry in March? The problem I'm facing is that I can't get my IV cert until November which leaves less than 6 months before my national cert expires.

    Got it, thank you!

    Non-practicing EMT Recertification

So if it does lapse, how do I renew it? I need a cert to get work, but I need work to get the cert.

    Non-practicing EMT Recertification

I am currently registered with the national registry (expiring 3/31/2015) and Colorado state (expiring 10/23/2016). I have not been practicing as an EMT, but I am thinking about volunteering with an ambulance company next year. The company does require NREMT certification so I don't want to...

    The Official EMTLIFE Introduction Thread

Nope, must have been someone else! We're still just going over legal/ethical issues, haven't covered anything medical at all (just had the second class meeting). I'm doing it through a hospital in the Denver area.

    The Official EMTLIFE Introduction Thread

New and excited! Hello, I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I just had my first day of EMT-B class and I can already tell that I'm really going to enjoy it. I'm currently employed full-time in the IT field. I'm hoping to be able to work part-time or volunteer in EMS once I...

    EMT-B Expectations

I really appreciate the insight that most of you provided. I don't know what it's like. Obviously it's not like the movies (that should be a given...), so I appreciate the rough breakdown that bahnrokt provided. That is exactly what I was looking for. I'm not more interested in fire; I'm...

    EMT-B Expectations

Thanks for the reply. I don't know what people want to hear, I'm just being honest. If I love EMS, I would become a firefighter so that I could continue doing EMS work with higher pay. I have no problem admitting that money is the driving force there. I plan to have kids within a few years...

    EMT-B Expectations

I have recently applied to an EMT-B program through a hospital EMS education program. Please could those with experience confirm if I am applying for the right reasons? I am employed full-time and don't plan on quitting anytime soon. I hope to volunteer or work part-time either with a SAR...
