I was 19 when I got done emt-b school and started with a private ambulance company; 20 when I got into the local ER as a tech. Being there pushes me so much to remember why I wanted to get into this field.
Hey guys - Have any of you guys had trouble with your certification and ID coming in the mail?
I took the EMT-B test about 2 and a half weeks ago, and passed. My cert # is online, but I never received anything in the mail. I called the EMS council and the jerk said there's nothing he can do and...
So I'm thinking about taking the NR in about a month from now (State is < 3 weeks away).
The classroom textbook we use is the Prehospital Emergency Care 9th edition (the reviews are mostly good, plus it was provided by the school)...
I had a quick conversation with a pilot of an air ambulance company from Pittsburgh. Met him in the elevator (in Philly) while I was going to school in the morning. He asked if I liked the EMT school (since I was in uniform), then we talked about how much he traveled and all that fun stuff. He...
I have the same book as you & I was thinking about this the other day. The textbook and workbook say < 90, but my handout paper for the Nitro the instructor gave us says its a contraindication for administering if BP systolic is < 100
My book says the shock position is no longer recommended basically because the abdomen organs can be pushed up toward the diaphragm, making breathing more difficult, and increasing pressure inside the skull in pts with a head injury and of course, defiantly contraindicated in a pt. with...
I agree with this statement so much.
I'm liking the ideas of sitting back on the feet while kneeling & the one knee off the ground. I'm going to be lead for the rapid trauma assessment and got the timing down to I think 4 minutes on the board, and 8.5 minutes for the reassessment and my...
Quick question from a newbie here ..
Do you guys have any tips for how to position your body while holding c spine?
We're basically doing practicals until the State which is next month and a lot of students are having a hard time with getting a good position with their body on the...
I'm done the emt school in Sept. So I would take the state exam in Sept., I'm not taking anytime off.
There arent too many changes in the 2011 protocols. They became mandatory on July 1st 2011. So better to err on the side & know the new stuff.
I take the PA exam in September! If I were you, I would just review all of that material that was given plus your notes & the new 2011 protocols. I know this sounds overwhelming..
There was a question in classroom that I thought was kind of unfair. It basically asked what comes after direct pressure.
Well, the book we were studying out of said apply the tourniquet immediately after if direct pressure doesn't stop the bleeding. So that was the answer that I picked since...
