Hey guys i had a couple of quesstions to ask, I am planning to move to missouri or new jersey after i finish my medic class down in florida.
I wanted to know if you guys up there have a 911 service or like here to ride the 911 ambulances you have to be a firefighter also? thanks just wanting to know how far i have to go before i move there.:P

Why Jersey?
Have you been in contact with the local MICU project for the area you want to live?
Have you even picked out a place to live?
Do you see yourself working EMS only in a hospital run system with mostly ALS calls, but sh*tty retirement in 20 years, and be happy with it?
Can you handle the cold?
No, really, can you?
If you answer is South Jersey, I can be of much greater help. My MICU project is expanding, and looking for good Medics.
You WILL be riding as a 3rd for 3-6months. Minimum. To gain enough education to satisfy the state, then to get your Temporary MICP #, and then ride as a Medic 3rd, rather then a student (but paid).
The money is not bad at all. 21 an hr, roughly for a brand spankin new medic.

Let me know where you are going to, and when you are looking at going.
I can direct you to the right resources, and if you come here FT, I can get a nice bonus.
Giggity. B)

i want to move to new jersey cause i have family there. My fiance is a trucker so he can only be home so often but he can transfer to new jersey to make that the base for the his trucking company.

Missouri is currently where he is at.

I dont mind the cold.

i dont plan going there and looking till after i finish my second semester of medic school. so in about 4 months.

Know roughly what area?
North, Central, South?
Near any big city will work.

Jersey EMS is thisssssss close to a major change. Just wait. I gurandamntee it.

Wow, that's good. I've heard MONOC pays in the $13-14 range.

If the OP is thinking North Jersey, I'd suggest UMDNJ, which would mean state benefits and retirement, at least. But given the state's current financial straits, I'm not sure if they're hiring or if there's any job security there.

Jersey City EMS is pretty happening, if you want a lot of experience very quickly.

If you're in the Jersey City/Hudson County area, it's just a short train ride into the city, so FDNY is always an option, too.
