One time my partner and I kept a single mom from being arrested for failure to follow an officer's lawful order to leave a motel room (leaving her kids without a parent) by looking her in the eye and saying "Ma'am, that arm looks like it might very well be broken. We need to get you to the hospital to have it looked at" then we put a sling on her and took her and her kids to the ED. (Her hubby had banged her up a little, she fled with the kids and had no money).
