What are the baseline vital signs for all age groups? Different books have different answers.

I will be taking the NREMT-EMT computer based test soon, and its been over a year since I have taken the class. My question is this: I still have my book from class, I have borrowed another book from a fellow student, and I have various other studying materials. All of these books etc have different baseline vitals for each age group. For example, one says that the respiratory rate for an infant is 25-50, while the other states its 30-40. Where can I get a definitive answer so I dont fail the NREMT. Thanks a lot!

I would suggest that you have an idea of what is normal and not normal, rather than memorize specific ranges. 25-50 and 30-40 are not dramatically different, it's just that the first author is being more permissive than the second.

You're not going to get a question like--what's the minimum normal blood pressure for a 3.67 year old child? You may have to judge whether a patient seems shocky based on vitals etc.

Okay! Thanks so much for the quick reply. I guess I'll just keep what I've memorized in my head and not overload it with contradictory info. Thanks again!
