volunteering, how?

i want to start volunteering(emt-b) to get some experience.

i have no idea on how to go about finding a place to volunteer with, or even who i can legally do it with.

my town is covered by acadian, and they are private, so no volunteering.

what are likely places to try? hospital, fire dept, etc...
 
Why not apply for a part time job with Acadian?
 
Honestly just apply for a part time gig with Acadian. You'll get better experience.
 
I don't think Acadian is hiring into part time. You can go full time down to part time but no part time only hires.
 
i already applied/interviewed with them.
not enough experience for full or part time work.
 
East Jefferson Memorial Hospital does EMS and accepts volunteers.
