Hello, I am new to this community. I am currently training as an EMT-B in Seminole county, FL. I am also a student at UCF pursuing a bachelors degree in psychology. I am trying to find work as an EMT-B here in Florida (gain some experience as an EMT) until I graduate..and I am thinking about USCG OCS to become an officer, maybe SAR/maritime safety, something along those lines in-service. Does anyone have any thoughts on this plan? Should I obtain EMT-P before going into CG?.. Are there any other certifications.. such as the civilian cert: USCG Medical Person In Charge that I should consider as well.

I will graduate with my bachelors in 2 years.. so my EMT-B will be ready to expire around then and.. I'm considering USCG MPIC as a means for recert/refresher and also for some new/valuable education for my career.
