I am a very brand new EMT in NYC, including yesterday it 's my 3rd day. I don't understand why I need to buy a tech bag by myself, and if I used some of the supplies, do I need to refill it by myself? On the other hand, it means that I have to pay for my supplies to save a person's life and my company collect all the payment from the patients ??? Anyway, do anyone know where can I find a place to buy these stuffs under a good price??

If your company told you that, Turn and run out the door as fast as you can.

No Ambulance company requires you to buy your own equipment!

is this for your job? i cant hardly imagine a company telling me i had to bring my own supplies to work...

now if this is for your vehicle hten your on your own. galls is a good place to start. as far as restocking used materials, you can try to get some small stuff off the rescue that responds to transport your pt or you can do what most do and steal stuff from your company

Thank you guys, I know it sounds strange to me too, but I am too new as an idiot in this field, I really need someone who can lead me to a correct way, and this company has a very good leader who can help me. On the other hand, I am waiting to get into FDNY, but I heard that FDNY also needs us to bring with our own stuffs, do any one knows anything about NYC FDNY.....

im sorry but im still unclear as to the circumstances regarding your question. is this a paid service that is requiring you to provide your own gear or a volly squad? have they actually stated what you need to provide?

as far as fdny, i would find it highly surprising if they require you to provide your own medical supplies.

as a side note, and i realize that im in no way perfect and make my fair share of mistakes, but your grammar and syntax are atrocious. it makes your posts really tough to read.

Ive never heard of anything like that... Whos your agency?

Huh, what's with that?? Even out heere in the sticks we get supplied with our disposables, equipment and even personal protective equipment. Some guys take it upon themeselves to purchase an upgraded product of what is supplied (i.e. stethoscopes, bp cuffs and gps, low costing equpiment), but you don't have to.

Your services cannot expect you to perform a duty if they don't provide you with the tools to do so.

I'd be worried. If its your equipment is it also your liability?

Every agency is different. I would be intrested to hear the how's and why's answered by someone from within the service... There might be a perfectly good reason for this. It might also be a bag OTHER than the regular jump bag that is for other equipment.

I've heard of some areas where ALS providers are issued their own gear, so that they are the only ones responsible for their equipment.
