Except most of our patients have the mental capacity to know that it is not literally taking....

Most, but not all.

Actually, I don't say anything, I really don't think anyone cares to know if I need to move my bowels.

Tell me you only said move my bowels for sake of this specific conversation and that you don't always call it that

Really? I need to repeat myself?

Actually, I don't say anything, I really don't think anyone cares to know if I need to move my bowels.

Make sense yet?

I fail to see how that would possibly be relevant to the thread topic.

Thanks so much for the help! That makes sense...Also, sometimes the sounds start off very softly at first...do I wait for the loud sound, or is the very soft one the first one?
Thanks again :)

The very first sound you hear.

If you're getting a lot of artifact while the rig is running try lifting your feet off the ground (but make sure you don't lose our balance and fall into your patient!).

It also helps to keep the stethoscope "tight." As in make sure it's doesn't have enough slack to bounce off anything.
