I use a non-Littman brand steth that works well for me. My question is can I shorten the rubber tubes to get a better fit ( There's just alittle too much distance between me and the patient). The tubes are soft and pliable, and I have had to reapply them to the ear peices before with no adverse side effects. It is as simple as tube is tube, and length doesn't mean that much. Or is there some calibration issues possibly? It's not an expencive unit by no means, under $50 If I remember.

Should not be a problem. The shorter you cut the tubes will affect lower frequency response but it will be negligible since the wavelength of 100Hz is around eleven feet.

Thanks for the responce, I'm gonna give it a go later today.B)
