Go to any County EMS office, preferably your local office, but any will do (unless your county has an extra required cert, like LA and Orange Counties).

Complete the required application, pay the fee, show lives can and CPR and nremt card.

Generally you will need to download the application and fill it out ahead of time. Look to your local ems office's website for assistance here.

Doesn't really matter what county though lol. I applied and renewed in Ventura county even though I worked in LA county at the time, because its cheaper and same day turn around vs 30-90 days.

My LA processing last only took 3 days lol

Really? Thats pretty cool, I didn't know you could do that.

Its a state license. I can go to any DMV to get my drivers license just the same as I can go to any county ems office to get my EMT license (cert).

Only exception is if your county requires an extra cert to work there. Like in LA County you need an expanded scope cert to teach you how to do CNA nursing home type stuff for transfers. For that there's a free class online for anyone who didn't get their EMT class in LA and I opted for that.

I understand now, people I have talked to made it so much more confusing. @NPO

Makes sense.

You can always contact the LA County EMS Agency at (562) 347-1600
