Sleep pay

Sounds great absolutely no job protection, change the rules when they want, walk in and fire you at will and decide to pay you fifty cents and hour while your sleeping.

Sounds like a great opportunity.

Not so much.

Move on.

Say what you will about unions. This bull **** doesn't happen in my area or any other of the ridiculous stories we have heard lately where an employer is sticking it to the employee.

Unions do not stop this from happening. Sadly unions in current downward spiral of the economy have cost more jobs than they have saved. So sleep tight knowing you are not any safer or better paid than I am as a non union employee.

Union or not, nobody with any self respect would accept "sleep pay" or any other such trash. As a professional, if I am on the clock I am paid my full rate, otherwise I am going home. I'd work at McDs before I accepted "sleep pay". Probably make more per hour that way.

If anyone accepts such, it is nobody's fault but there own. I would guess if people didn't put up with it, the company would change or go out of business.

Amazing...

and makes me even more happy that I didn't pursue working for an ambulance company.

I'll stick to movie and television sets.

Let's see...I work in a union shop, so...if management wants to change our work schedule, that has to be bargained with the union since it's a change in contract and working conditions. Management wants to change my pay, same deal. Management wants to discipline me, I have the right to union representation, which includes a lawyer if needed, and the discipline must be for justifiable, not for arbitrary reasons and in accordance with our contract. Management wants to reduced staffing, it must be done in accordance with our contract; no playing favorites with some employees. Shall I go on?

Yep...I'll stick with union.

Actually we are very well protected, compensated and I do sleep very well thank you at full pay.

If this was a competition then maybe I'd bite.

My interest is the protection of the competent provider.
