Hi all,

Looking for some advice and input as to how to charge our ambulance's batteries. Currently, we do not have a station or solution for shore power and rely on charging the batteries when the engine is running (we park the ambulances curbside, and we cannot run a shorepower cable across the sidewalk <_<). Does anyone know of any alternative solutions so that we can charge our vehicles other than killing our engine in high idle?

Thanks.

Streamlight SolarStream or some other solar panel. PDs in the area just started adding them and the MICU have had hard ones for years

before we had shore power at every station we had solar panels installed on the roofs. worked great on clear days but we still had a lot of dead batteries when we got dispatched to those 6am calls...

I would say the best is to use a combination of solar panels and a dedicated battery bank for equipment and one of ignition, the equipment may die but the engine will start and you can boot the computer after you are en-route to the call.
