It's most likely a simple question... but it's stressing me out.

Ok so In Dec. 2009 I finished my first EMT-B class at college "A" and passed with flying colors and was successful in passing my NREMT PRACTICAL, I went to sign up for my NREMT COGNITIVE and failed the first time. I was damaged by failing so I never rescheduled my test I waited til July and in July I KNEW I had to repeat the class for my own being. So I signed up for a class again at college "B" and took the class and once again I passed with flying colors and we are about to take our NREMT PRACTICAL this week. HOWEVER, I got a brilliant idea to try and pass the NREMT COGNITIVE again since its Dec. 2010 now, I figured heck 1 more shot before I start using my college "B" completion. I PASSED the NREMT COGNITIVE today! And now I am a certified EMT-B receiving my cert and patch. However, I am wondering what i do about my NREMT PRACTICAL for college "B" I tried talking to my teacher and they were very confused worrying about expiration which has led to my confusion. any help or tips on what I need to and should do would be amazing. ok thanks guys and gals.

Gah, this is confusing.

I assume you are taking this class for credit and that you need to take the practical in order to pass the class? If you do not need to take NREMT practical in order to pass the class then just don't go to it.

If you do need to take the practical exam in order to pass the class then gere is what I might do (tho not necessarily what you should do)- take the practical exam but call the NREMT and tell them to disregard it. (Or call them ahead of time to tell them to disregard.)

I do not care for credits at the current college(college "b") I am in....I've completed the class before and received an A at college "A" which is my main college... I pretty much used this class as a giant refresher and backup plan incase I didnt pass today. But I passed today and I was so shocked and now I think Im just going to alert like the people at the practicals that I'm alrdy certified...honestly If they want me to do the practicals Ill do them for fun...they are easy and I know them...but at the same time I dont wanna take up space or take up time of another student attempting to become what I am alrdy just seems redundant haha. Being nationally certified from NREMT means that you have passed both the written and practical applications correct?

I'm confused as to why you didn't just study and take it for a 2nd or 3rd time? Or why not just take a refresher course. Why do the whole class over again?

Well most would question that...but the thing is I personally knew after all that time the best bet for me was to just do the class over again it obviously worked out :)

He basically used the second Basic class as a refresher. It's not a bad idea, just a long idea.

It makes sense to me.
What concerns did they raise about expiration?

The only concern I would have is NR getting confused when they receive skills completion information from your school on a candidate who is already certified. Though, doubt that would cause any issues.

I just want to confirm that you have obtained both your national card AND also your local state certification that actually allows you to practice locally. ?

ok so basically after a full day of calling both nremt and college "b" the end result is I am officially certified as an EMT-B that is no question. However to get a course completion and a grade for the class I have to finish the practical again just for the class completion and grade. If I didnt want a grade or cert from the college I could just not go but I like finishing what I started. I suppose if anyone else is ever in my shoes they find this thread. I called NREMT to alert them that even if a practical result comes in from college B it would be disregarded and I told college "B" to not send verification to NREMT.
