How do you feel about running lights and sirens on every call till you get there and know what you have then you can down grade from there

i would rather run L/S to every call until a unit gets there and informs us the we can down grade. The reason this is, we have gone to priority dispatching, which tells us the level of response, Code 2 or Code 3. and they determine this by the information given to the call taker, well as we all know, we can trust dispatch information just about as far as we can throw our ambulance.

90 seconds to hit the response button on the MDC from time of call assignment by CAD. Our CAD software is directly integrated with the tone-out system so we get radio tones as soon as the unit is assigned with no delay (which is cool, there used to be up to a 30 second delay between CAD assignment and tones dropping). The 90 second rule applies to all calls, regardless of MPDS priority. Also applies to post assignments.

Dayshift - out the door in under a minute
Nights - out the door in 2 minutes

On scene anywhere in our town in under 9 minutes.

On a related note: We're looking into tying our ePCR system with dispatch (they use Firehouse) so that all our times are automatically entered. This is supposedly for better QA/QI. Anybody else do this?

First crew on duty 30 seconds to 3 mins.
Second crew respond from home,in town etc to get the bus, usually 2 -5 mins
WE have a decent size roster of active members always ready. When im on duty as soon as the page comes in its about a minute to the time we inform dispatch were responding response from page to pt contact, about 2-15 mins depending what town we get dispatched to

We have 2 minutes from when we are toned out to calling in route. During the day most crews are a lot quicker than that, at night it probably averages 2 minutes.
Looking at our times there can be up to a 2 minute delay from when the 911 call was placed with dispatch and when we were assigned (toned). Now response from tones to patient contact can be from a minute or two up to 30+ minutes as we cover our whole county. However, a lot of the time when we know it will be a long response time First Responders/Fire are also dispatched and most times arrive on scene before we do.

There is talk of switching us to a priority dispatch system. Right now though we are running L/S to every call.
