I start EMT school September 17th, for those who have had to take school twice, what did you get out of it, more knowledge or stuff you missed the first time?

did you recently take it for the first time or have you been out of the game for a while?

you will probably be bored if you had a good grasp of it the first time around.

I retook the entire EMT-B class 11 years after I was first certified just to regain National Registry status.
I will say this, a lot more things made a lot more sense to me the second go round. I was able to understand where certain things really fit in EMS where my first go round in class as a green 18 year old, I didn't really understand why some things were so important.

There is the obvious benefits of revisiting learning at a more mature time in life go without stating but there are other things that come to mind as well. The increase of emotional and social maturity should have an impact on the understanding of concepts of EMS as well as the procedures.

As far as the subject matter I found that my second EMT class gave me an opportunity to go deeper and advance through the levels of comprehension toward a true appreciation of what caring for another human being entails.

And, of course, some things have been added as well, as EMS has slowly evolved. I would suggest that you consider that what you will be learning is most likely at least a couple of years old, and that there is new science in areas such as spinal immobilization and O2 administration that you might want to read current studies on.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback, I took the class 2 years ago but it was a fast track course, I decided to finally set money aside and not let anything interrupt my career.
