I am trying to do a case study on a pt. that was brought into the ICU on one of my clinical rotations. I am needing research on pneumocephalus resulting from facial and head trauma. I am using Google but all I am finding is abstracts on articles. Can anybody point me in the right direction to find some good info on s/s and treatments prehospital and hospital based? Thanks in advance.

It is a term used to describe a co-worker who is clueless about medical terminology.

Pneumocephalus can have many causes associated with a wide variety of procedures.

Good articles involving CPAP:

Good article with CT Scan images:

Good article about elderly person trying to unblock ears with valsalva during an airplane flight.

Associated with lumbar punctures:

Transfered a 24 YO male with a diagnosed pnuemocephaly secondary to a undiagnosed on initial exam skull fx after being tazed and falling striking his head. Woke the next morning with a headache and a runny nose which was CSF. Opted for ground transport due to the elevation over the summit between the original facility and the receiving. Was all i could do to try to keep this kid from popping his ears to equalize the pressure. Other then the what he called a 3-10 headache and the seemingly freeflowing CSF he was otherwise asysmptomatic
