Hi everyone! Long time lurker here, first time posting. Recently started an EMT course at the local community college and its great so far; Only problem I have is the uniform.

1. The old pair of boots I had from JROTC developed this problem where some metal or plastic support behind the heel would jab me in the leg under the calf. I mitigated it with some cardboard but it lasts only a couple hours of walking. Should I just toss them and get a new pair?

2. I used to shine them very often and they look really nice for inspection 4 years ago, but wouldn't all the shine left on it today make me look like a whacker or some FNG?

Thanks again

1) You absolutely need a set of good and comfortable footwear in this job, so I'd recommend you get new ones.

2) Not necessarily, but maybe. I used to be able to shave in my boots reflection, but since I purchased a set of boots that I can't shine I don't shine them anymore.

Thanks. Now that I mentioned it, I don't even know where those boots are today. Better excuse to get new ones :D
