Hey guys, I think there is a question on the NREMT asking about what we follow as EMT's. Can someone give me the lay person explination between the two?

They seem very similar, and the book says a protocol are the preset steps we take for an assessment and intervention. And Directive says almost the same thing...

I'm confused.

Where I work, a protocol pertains to medical care for a patient and comes from the medical director. A directive pertains to operational issues and comes from one of the chiefs. Not sure how it is other places.
